This article examines the impact of a disability-inclusive intervention on learning outcomes for girls with disabilities in Kenya. It summarises the pre-existing circumstances and the project implemented by the non-governmental organisation. It provides important insights into the process, emphasising the importance of understanding how contextual realities, such as gender and poverty, intersect with disability and impact access to education and the process of integrating children with disabilities into mainstream schools.

The gender dimensions of forced displacement: a synthesis of new research

This resource explains how gender inequality affects the extent and patterns of different dimensions of poverty in forcibly displaced populations. It also explores how conflict and displacement affect gender norms and the prevalence of intimate partner violence (IPV) and child marriage for women and girls. This resource summarises evidence on violence against women and girls (VAWG) and intersectionality. It shares evidence on which groups of women are at increased risk of violence due to multiple discriminations or disadvantages. It also explains how to prevent the most marginalised and excluded groups, including lesbian and bisexual women, women living with disabilities, and women living with HIV from experiencing violence.

This resource examines multidimensional poverty among displaced populations. It brings together three key issues: multidimensional poverty, forced displacement and gender. The analysis builds on the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) from Ethiopia, Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan and Sudan, which examines the situation faced by women and men in forcibly displaced households.
