Towards inclusive social protection systems: enabling participation and inclusion of persons with disabilities

This resource provides advice on how to design a national disability-inclusive social protection system. It is aimed at policy makers and practitioners, offering examples from work of the governments and development organisations in different countries.

The guidance focuses on different aspects of the social protection:

  • income security and access to necessary goods and services
  • coverage of disability related costs (including access to required care and support)
  • coverage of healthcare costs (including disability related medical care, rehabilitation, and assistive technologies)
  • improved access to services and economic empowerment (such as childcare and education, transport, vocational training, support to employment and livelihood generation, and financial inclusion).
