Policy Lessons on Supporting Women Entrepreneurs

This policy note explores the barriers women entrepreneurs face in scaling their businesses and presents evidence-based findings on effective strategies to support women-led firms. Lessons from the Africa and East Asia Pacific Gender Innovation Labs highlight the multiple and contextual factors, such as social norms and risk of gender-based violence, that contribute to the gender gap in firm performance. The note outlines five key findings on what works, and what does not, addressing the differential constraints restricting the growth of women-led firms.
