This rapid evidence review from knowledge for development and diplomacy (K4DD) provides a series of background notes informing the Wilton Park conference on Transformative change for global biodiversity: the role of gender equality and social inclusion. It introduces some of the lessons, barriers, entry points for action, themes, and issues related to the challenge of ensuring that women, girls, indigenous peoples and local communities (IPLCs) and marginalised groups are at the heart of efforts to tackle the global biodiversity crisis.

The resource includes notes for sessions on: why biodiversity is a critical issue; Learning from inclusive and transformative biodiversity action; the barriers to achieving inclusive and transformative action for biodiversity; championing the implementation of Target 22 and Target 23 as fundamental to achieving the goals of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and Inclusive biodiversity finance for transformative change.
